Welcome to the BFMS Renovation Project!
We hope you'll take a look around, as there is a lot of great information on the project. Details of all Renovation Design Committee meetings (summer of 2011 through spring of 2012) can be found on the minutes page.
PROJECT NEWS
Renovations are underway! Lots of demolition work is being done on the ground floor, trenches are being dug and pipes laid. For the remainder of the school year, the ground floor is closed. Students are being bussed to Hadley Field for P.E. classes.
The "Working Committee" is meeting weekly with the contractor and architect. Members of the working committee are Chris Kibbe, Heidi Moccia, Rich Schuhmann, a representative appointed by the school board, and our clerk of the works, Scott McKusick.
Below is a revised overview of the estimated construction schedule:
- Spring 2012 - June 2012: Construction begins on the ground floor! (demolotion of old locker rooms and begin construction of hallway to elevator), and site work.
- Summer 2012: Site work, work on all floors, and Heating and Ventillation Systems (goal is to finish heating and ventillation systems, site work, ground floor and third floor by start of school year).
- Sept. 2012 - October 2012: Finish Second Floor
- January 2013: Finish First Floor Classrooms and possibly Cafeteria and Kitchen.
- February 2013 - Summer 2013: Cafeteria and Kitchen. Project complete.
